Resentment amongst Indian psychologists over Havan led to boycott of the conference

One of the most unreported events of this year was the Psychology and Spirituality conference organized by the Association of Transpersonal Psychology. I think almost 200 well known psychologists attended the conference. Many of them were trained by Indian spiritual masters and were the advocates of Indian spirituality as a tool for managing the mind and its wayward ways.
An interesting twist was that the organizers had organized a havan on the opening day. This led to a lot of resentment amongst Indian psychologists who decided to boycott the conference. Some senior psychologists like Dr. Sudhir Kakkar were of course present.
Towards the end of the conference, there was a battle royale amongst the conference organizers on the one hand and the boycotting groups representative on the other and even though hesitant at the beginning, the organizers jumped into the fray with full force with accusation and counter accusation flowing freely like poisoned darts flying around in the Habitat Center conference hall.
Dr. Kapila Vatsayan, the chief guest exited the proceedings silently while the battle was on. It was heartening to note that amongst the foreign psychologists, a large number of followers were the followers of Shri Aurobindo and The Mother of Pondicherry.

The grand architect of Auroville, Dr. Kirit Joshi was there in full spiritual splendour. He is the one who played a key role in realizing the dreams of Sri Aurobindo and seeing it through the maze of bureaucracy. It was a unique experiment initiated by Mrs. Indira Gandhi and one which seems to have paid extremely rich dividends in terms of its impact on the national and international scene.
It was also a major breakthrough for Shruti who has been silently working since many years on the Indian cultural scenario with her expertise in Mantras. She has a powerful voice richly resonant and communicates extremely strong vibrations. She specializes in the power of healing through sound and with years, her projection and power of healing sound is continually on the rise.
